The Contemplative Landscape

The work in this gallery is an expression of the meditative process I use to visually explore the world around me. The Tibetans would call it "Miksang" or "Good Eye", others would call it contemplative photography. It is the process of expressing my perceptions of a moment exactly as I see it, without alteration or embellishment or applying a conceptual overlay. By making these images I hope to convey those perceptions visually so that other may share that moment when the image was taken.

While the landscape has been my most compelling interest, subject matter can be anything that visually stops me in my tracks. It is all about the convergence of light, color and lines. But most importantly, it is about my ability to get out of myself - to quiet my mind - long enough to recognize what is happening in front of me and conveying it to others.
